WERK: 2014 Summer Style Guide (ft. “The Daileigh”)

It’s officially summer and if you’re like us, you’ve been anticipating this moment all year to pack up the sweaters and boots and break out the maxi’s, swimsuits and shades! Since we gave you our picks for the top 2014 Fall/Winter fashion trends, it was only right that we do a roundup of our favorite looks we hope to see out and about (and on Instagram) this summer.

Recently while browsing Pinterest, we stumbled upon a fashion blogger by the name of Ashleigh Hutchinson who runs a style blog called “The Daileigh“. Within minutes of scrolling through her site, we instantly fell in love with her style and her evident charm. We had already selected our list of trends prior to discovering Ashleigh, but after realizing that she had modeled ALL the looks we intended to show, we figured it would be a great idea to feature the fashion stylist as our inspiration behind the looks.

Denim on Denim

We’be been seeing a lot of this look lately and are loving it! Pair a fitted denim button up with a pair of skinny jeans (similar in shade) and accessorize with neutral colors such as white or camel and simple single-soled pump and you’re good to go! If skinny jeans aren’t your thing, you can also opt for a looser fitted shirt and cuffed boyfriend jeans.

Lace

Lace is a classic fabric that will probably never go out of style, and this summer there’s an abundance of lace tops, skirts and dresses to play in this summer. In dark colors, lace can be a bit heavy and dramatic, so a tip for keeping the look light and summery is to try soft colors like whites, creams, and pastels.

All White

There’s really not much to be said about this one here. All white is instant fresh!

Co-Ordinates

Another favorite trend of ours is the re-emergence of “outfits” or coordinated pieces. It’s often a good idea to stay away from “matching” but if you do it, go all the way! A printed or textured two-piece look is the perfect way to modernize this silhouette.

Print

Spring and summer are the seasons of prints! Be bold and try different colors, and even play with mixing prints which is also a hot trend right now. With prints, it’s a good idea to keep something simple so a solid color shoe or bag to accentuate one of the colors in the print is a must to tie the look together.

Monochromatic

Similar to the coordinated look, monochromatic ensembles scream style and high fashion. With this look, you don’t want to be boring and one-note so mix it up with different shades of one color, or different textures (i.e. the lace top with high-low pencil skirt above). If you want to go a step further, match your lip and nail colors as well. FIERCE!

Color of the Season: Mint

This season we’re seeing a lot of mint and we are definitely here for it! Whether you try a monochromatic mint outfit, or you simply throw in a splash of color via a clutch or cute sandals, we highly recommend that everyone (men AND women) incorporate some sort of mint items into their summer wardrobe. Trust us on this one!

In addition to fashion styling and consulting, Ashley also hosts seminars in which she helps ladies revamp their wardrobe while saving money! For more information on where to find these looks and others like them, visit www.TheDaileigh.com for more details.
